Ownergy’s official launch

UK’s first mass market renewable energy provider launched to roll out the national tariffs which start in April

Philip Wolfe, former head of the REA, founds first company providing end-to-end delivery of renewables for the Feed-In Tariffs and Renewable Heat Incentive

LONDON, FEBRUARY 22ND 2010: The first company to specialise in simple end-to-end provision of renewable energy systems for the Feed-In Tariffs and Renewable Heat Incentive was launched today. With a delivery partner network spanning the UK, Ownergy Plc is the only company to offer any type of tariff-eligible renewables for homes, businesses and the public sector.  By focussing wholly on the clean energy cashback schemes, Ownergy will be the natural and simplest choice for anyone wishing to benefit from the tariffs’ financial rewards and the opportunity to achieve energy independence.

Ownergy was founded by Philip Wolfe, who in his previous role as head of the Renewable Energy Association was pivotal in the design and adoption of the tariffs by Government. He recognised that the tariffs will drive a surge of demand for renewable energy systems in a market where most people are not energy experts. He established Ownergy  to serve all those who would find specifying and registering tariff-compliant systems too complex, time-consuming or confusing.

Ownergy provides an end-to-end process to select, install, finance, register, manage and maintain tariff-earning renewable energy systems. As well as being the only company to simplify this process for any eligible customer – homeowners, businesses, landlords, farmers, schools, hospitals and communities – Ownergy also offers the full range of eligible renewable energy technologies. The company can recommend the right renewables for any property and arrange the necessary installation, be it for solar, wind, hydro, bioenergy or heat pumps.

The company has already built an impressive network of delivery partners across the UK, attracted by Ownergy’s ability to manage the marketing, customer interaction and major item procurement, leaving the partner to focus on installation. Ownergy has also built partnership arrangements with leading renewable energy equipment suppliers, consultants and finance providers.

To further assist those interested in benefiting from the tariffs, Ownergy has set up two information sites on the tariffs – www.fitariffs.co.uk and www.rhincentive.co.uk. Launched in 2009, these websites have already received tens of thousands of visitors, who have praised their clear and accessible information on what the tariffs are and how they can personally benefit

Philip Wolfe, Managing Director of Ownergy, said: “The tariffs are unique in that they help people make energy make money while at the same time making a difference to our country’s environmental sustainability. Experience has already shown us that while people are interested in the tariffs, they also find the process of installing the right systems for their property quite daunting. Ownergy has therefore been set up as a one stop shop where we handle all the complexity leaving our customers to receive the benefit.”

Ownergy will be at the Ideal Home Show from March 20th to April 5th during which the company will also be celebrating the launch of the Feed-In Tariffs on April 1st.

About Ownergy

Ownergy was founded to help people make energy make money through the new Feed-In Tariffs and Renewable Heat Incentive. By selecting, designing, supplying, managing and financing renewable energy systems for our customers, we make it as simple as we possibly can to turn our customers energy into an asset. For homeowners and businesses, tenants and landlords, schools and hospitals, farmers and retailers, we can get the right systems installed to help our customers not just reduce their energy bills but get paid for the energy they generate. About the renewable energy tariffs

Also known as the ‘clean energy cashback schemes’, the Feed-In Tariffs and Renewable Heat Incentive will pay owners of renewable energy installations a prescribed amount for every kilowatt-hour of electricity and heat produced. This is in addition to the savings from buying-in less energy, while a further bonus can be earned by selling any surplus power. This means that beneficiaries get paid even for energy they use themselves. The tariffs have been designed by the Department of Energy and Climate Change, and will start in April 2010 for electricity and April 2011 for heat.
