New report on Solar PV in the UK
The Solar Trade Association has published a report by consultants Ernst and Young on the UK solar industry outlook.
It shows that prices of solar panels are falling so fast that by 2013 they will be half of what they cost in 2009. The blue chip consultants conclude that solar electricity could play "an important role" in meeting the UK's renewable energy targets.
They say:
Grid parity with retail prices is expected to be achieved in the UK by 2020 without subsidy for non-domestic, on-site installations.
