Stage Two - We design a system that will work most effectively for your property
Once you have completed the Select Stage and received your Energy Selector Report, you will have a clear idea of the benefits and costs involved for your specific project.
The next step is for us to prepare a Design Proposal through which we specify exactly which equipment we will install, the work required and the costs involved.
At this point if you decide to proceed to the design stage we will fully refund you the cost of the Energy Selector Report.
The Design stage
There are two steps to the Design stage. The first is a full site survey. The second, based on this, is a detailed Design Proposal for the systems we are recommending, the work that is required, and a fixed cost for the installation.
There is a charge of £340 (exc. VAT) for the Design Proposal, although we will reduce this to £170 (exc. VAT) if you proceed to the Design Proposal within three weeks of receiving your Energy Selector Report.
When you progress to installation, this charge is fully refunded.
The site survey
For the site survey we will commission one of our approved and qualified MCS installers to carry out a physical site inspection at your property.
The time it takes to complete the survey depends on the options being considered and the size of the property. There are occasions where it will be necessary for more than one specialist to visit your business, however, we will manage this to suit your timetable and, if preferable, we try to arrange for the inspections to take place on the same day.
The scope of the site survey includes:
- A check that the findings included in the initial report are correct and achievable
- A measured survey to determine setting out and sizing
- An inspection of the structure, services connections, and existing equipment
- A check on site access
- Planning for cable runs, pipe routes and setting out of equipment
- A review of any preparatory builders work which may be required
The Design Proposal
After the site survey is completed, the Design Proposal is prepared by Ownergy.
The Design Proposal is a thorough ten to fifteen page document. In it, we identify and provide information on the following:
- Specification of the most appropriate products and equipment
- A description of the process for installation
- Performance criteria of the recommended systems
- System outputs
- A defined estimate of incomes from Feed-In Tariffs and Renewable Heat Incentive
- A defined estimate of energy savings
- Site constraints and details of any site preparation that will be necessary
- Information on required planning consents
- Available grants and financing
- Price, timetable and payment terms
You may also like to know that the installation of renewable energy systems is only subject to 5% VAT which saves you quite a bit of money!

Next steps
- Within the Design proposal is the contract which you can sign to proceed to installation
